CONGRATULATIONS On Purchasing The LA BLUE GIRL Screen Saver. The following includes detailed instructions on how to run the screen saver and what is also included on the CD-ROM.
1) Configuring the Video Screen Saver
Double click on the folder Video Screen Saver and then start the Video Screen Saver by double clicking on the Screen Saver Icon.
Either hold down the Command-S keys or go to FILE and select screen saver settings to bring up the Video Screen Saver Settings Dialog Box.
The modules list box lists all the installed modules on the system. Upon installation there will be the Blank Screen module and a default module on your system. By clicking on the module, the preview information about the module fills the clip list box.
2) Screen Saver Settings
Save the Screen after - Sets the amount of time the screen saver will wait before starting up. This can be set to second, minutes or hours.
Start playing the Videos when mouse is here - When placing the mouse cursor in this corner of the monitor, the screen saver will startup immediately.
Do not start Videos when mouse is here - When placing the mouse cursor in this corner of the screen, the screen saver will not start even if the computer has been idle longer than the delay time.
Unsave Password - By placing a password in this box, the screen saver will prompt the user for a password before stopping the screen saver.
3) More Screen Saver Settings
Test Button - after selecting a module from the list box pressing the test button will show the video clips within the selected module. Pressing any key or moving the mouse will stop the testing.
Number clips before redraw - After playing the selected module, the screen saver will randomly select another module and play the clips from this other module.
Movie Volume - There are four settings; full, medium, low and mute. These settings will control the volume of the clip playback.
Add Button - Upon hitting the add button, an open dialog box is presented. Go to the Mac modules folder on the La Blue Girl CD-ROM and select the module to add. Upon hitting the open button or double clicking on the module file, the clips and module are copied to their correct locations. The module and a preview of the clips appear in the module and clip list boxes. Please note that the more modules you install the more disk space is required.
Remove button - After highlighting the module to remove from within the module list box, pressing the remove button will remove the module from the list box and delete all the related clips and module files from your hard disk.
Run Screen Saver on Startup - If checked off this will create an alias record and place it within your system startup folder. Upon each subsequent startup of your Macintosh computer, the Video Screen Saver is automatically started.
Use Modules from CD - If check off, this will make available for playback Screen Saver modules from the CD.
No Repeat Video Clip - If check off, no video clips will repeat until all clips from the module have been played.
4) From The Menu System
Close - simply closes the screen saver settings windows.
Screen Saver Settings - Brings up the screen saver settings window.
Start Screen Saver (Command-N) - This key combination of Command-N will start the screen saver immediately. This only works from within the Video Screen Saver application (similar to hitting the test button)
Quit - Leaves the program and turns off the screen saver.
5) Starting the Video Screen Saver
To start the Video Screen Saver, simply double click on the Video Screen Saver icon.
6) Starting the Video Screen Jukebox
Make sure that the La Blue Girl CD-ROM is loaded in your CD-ROM drive. Double click on the La Blue Girl icon that best corresponds to your system.
LaBlue Jukebox 16Bit PM or 68K (Thousand/Millions color system)
LaBlue Jukebox 8Bit PM or 68K (256 color system)
PM= Power Mac System
68K= 680030 or 680040 . . . etc. based systems.
7) Important Notes
When starting the screen saver by placing the mouse in the startup corner of the screen, please give three or four seconds for the screen saver to begin.
On lower end machines (ie. LC, II series) the initial startup may be slower because of the amount of CPU activity needed for Quicktime¬.
DO NOT RUN OTHER SCREEN SAVERS while using the Video Screen Saver or the Video Jukebox.
Double click on the clip on the clip window while in the screen saver setting window to preview clip.
8) Starting The CelWorks Art Portfolio
Make sure that the La Blue Girl CD-ROM is loaded in your CD-ROM drive. The program will automatically launch, run through all the clips and quit itself out when finished. (There are 10 transition slides) When clicking on the quit button within the CelWorks interface, please allow 3-4 seconds for the application to quit out. (You can also copy the application onto your hard drive for faster interaction. File size is approx. 9.4 MB)
